Postmaster

The definitive email solution for ExpressionEngine

Notifications

What is a Notification?

Notifications were introduced to Postmaster v1.3 and are provide a way for people to send notifications at anytime using a CRON Job or just by simply sending an HTTP request to a specific URL. Notifications do things that hooks cannot provide.

Installing Notifications

Before you can use a notification, you must install it using the ExpressionEngine control panel. Go to Add-ons > Modules > Postmaster > New Notification. The notifications setup is a lot like a parcel. Notifications can even have their own unique settings UI for advanced configurations.

Template Variables

Notifications have a set of default templates variables. Each notification can pass custom variables, entry data to be parsed against the respected fieldtype, and member data.

Member Variables

All of the following member variables are available by default. The default member is the member that is currently logged in while triggering the notification. If no member is logged in, these variable won't be available unless the desired notification overrides the default functionality.

{member:member_id}
{member:group_id}
{member:email}
{member:username}
{member:screename}
{member:custom_member_field}
Notification Variables

Note, these variables are not available by default. Rather, this is the syntax any given notification will follow to parse variables and channel data.

{notice:some_var}
{notice:entry_id}
{notice:custom_field}
{notice:custom_tag_pair}
	....
{/notice:custom_tag_pair}
